Eugene "Gene" Powell
Eugene "Gene" Powell was appointed to The University of Texas System Board of Regents in 2009 by Governor Rick Perry and served as Chairman from 2011 to 2013. On December 6, 2012, Powell approved the initiative to establish a new university and school of medicine in the Rio Grande Valley (赌博平台), a historic decision which allowed 赌博平台 to access the state’s Permanent University Fund (PUF).
A native of Weslaco, Texas, Powell earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from The University of Texas at Austin. In 2004, Powell co-founded AirStrip Technologies, a medical software company which innovates in transmitting real-time medical data to physicians. Throughout his career, Powell has significantly contributed to real estate development in San Antonio through his companies, The Powell Companies, and Bitterblue, Inc. Powell is actively involved in numerous civic and professional organizations and has a strong presence in philanthropic efforts within San Antonio.
